MWM TBD616V8 marine and industrial engines
Units running on natural gas, biogas, landfill gas, coal bed gas and industrial diesel engines
Function: Driven by exhaust gas, the turbine drives the compressor to charge intake air. It improves volumetric efficiency, increases power output by 30%–50%, optimizes combustion and cuts fuel consumption and exhaust emissions.
Matching Parts: Core component of engine intake and exhaust system, matched with intercooler, intake manifold and exhaust manifold.
2. Structure & Materials
Turbine Side (Hot End)
Turbine Wheel: Nickel-based superalloy, resistant to high temperature over 850℃ and creep deformation.
Turbine Housing: Ductile iron, high temperature resistance and thermal shock resistance.
Compressor Side (Cold End)
Compressor Wheel: High-strength cast aluminum, lightweight and designed for high rotating speed.
Compressor Housing: Aluminum alloy with excellent heat dissipation and light weight.
Central Housing & Bearing System
Bearing: Full floating bearing design, vibration-resistant and long service life.
Lubrication: Pressure lubrication via engine oil with dedicated cooling oil passages.
Sealing: Combined metal and rubber seal to prevent oil leakage and air leakage.
Wastegate
Built-in pneumatic wastegate actuator to regulate boost pressure and avoid over-speed and over-pressure.

Precision Pressure Control: Integrated wastegate stabilizes boost pressure to prevent engine knocking and over-speed, fully protecting the engine.
Multi-fuel Adaptability: Compatible with natural gas, biogas, coal bed gas and diesel fuel, featuring good resistance to carbon deposition and coking.
5. Replacement & Compatibility
Genuine Alternative Part No.: 53279880001 (No updated replacement part)
Equivalent BorgWarner Models:
53279886001 (Exclusive for MWM)
53279707041 (For TBD616V8 marine engines)
53279887120 (For construction machinery)
Recommended Products: Only genuine or remanufactured BorgWarner products are acceptable. Ordinary aftermarket products are prohibited to avoid the risk of high-speed failure.
6. Installation & Maintenance Instructions
Pre-installation Inspection
Check the housing for cracks, turbine and compressor wheels for deformation and scratches. Ensure the bearing rotates smoothly without sticking.
Keep sealing surfaces intact and clean, and make sure all gaskets are complete.
Mounting Torque
Turbine inlet flange: 25±3 Nm
Compressor outlet: 20±2 Nm
Oil inlet port: 15±2 Nm
Lubrication Requirements
Pre-fill 50 ml engine oil before installation and rotate the wheel manually to lubricate bearings.
Run the engine at idle speed for 3–5 minutes after start-up; avoid rapid acceleration.
Replacement Cycle
Replace every 20,000 operating hours or 36 months, whichever comes first. Regularly inspect intake/exhaust leakage, oil consumption and boost pressure.
